A Solo Exhibit: Painting The Streets Of Ottawa

Although I have had other solo exhibits in the past, this one seems to be more difficult, do to the fact that it is such a large body of work to choose from.

The reason for such a large body of work is to hopefully show the city of Ottawa through my eyes and evoke to the viewer the sense of belonging to an ever growing city and also show some of the history it has to offer.
Moreover the works have been created on location, which is a rarity, escaping from all the walls of a studio environment, total freedom!
To see and be a part of your subject matter in all sorts of weather, that mother nature can throw at you.

Nature Reflects

Nature Reflects

Here's the paintings, I completed!
The purity of the colors of the two paintings are representative of the purity of the colors of paint, such as in nature!

                                                              Nature Reflects 1

Nature Reflects 2

The best part of the human instinct is wanting to recreate but not being able to duplicate, what nature does so naturally.
It is that challenge that causes artist's to strive to succeed in creating that next perfect masterpiece!

BUY MY ART BEFORE I DIE!!!

BUY MY ART BEFORE I DIE!!!

I'm sure we have all said this comment in every stage of our art career, a cry we all hear to often...
Moreover artists of today are not trying to reflect the old stereotype of a impoverished, dearalect whom just does it for the love of doing it. Art is a viable vocation contrary to popular belief, art is very laborious.
I feel the reason why most people wait until an artist is dead to purchase their art is because they are afraid to make such an investment both financially and the assumption on other peoples judgement dictating that it is not art, but junk. People just assume that if artwork of a dead artist is on the auction block or in a Gallery then that's the art to buy, because it must be good art...

Anyways that is just my opinion, which leads me to the reason for this topic of interest, BUY MY ART BEFORE I DIE!!!

Mother Nature And Friends

Mother Nature And Friends

Now that the changing of the season is upon us, Mother Nature is getting ready to put on a display that she can only do and her friends are the trees, leaves changing color is an inevitable conclusion. So I urge artists to get out of the seclusion of the studio!
Get out and be a tree huger and share the natural beauty of  Mother Nature and her friends...

Let nature transcend your mind into
a color frenzy of Artwork with such beauty to which we can only copy but never duplicate.
Fill a canvas full of the love of nature at its purest form...

The color exsplosion in nature need not be recreated as a scenic image of nature it can also be in abstract form, the main thing is to adopt your own method of interpreting nature in all it's glory!

I believe  in my heart of hearts that an artist owes
it upon themselves to document the beauty that is
far to often neglected, taken for granted, so I say get out and have fun creating your version of that beauty for it is forever changing!

The Meaning Of Success Verses Creativity

The Meaning Of Success Verses Creativity

The meaning of success has a different interpretation for each individual, some may define success as monetary value.
Others rate success as popularity and most importantly we all have our own goals, whether or not we reach such goals is defined as a feeling of personal accomplishment!

Just as dreaming of flying for example, the Wright Brothers would not have accomplished there goals if they just sat hoping it would just fall into their laps!

Success verses creativity are both very interesting and difficult as a single or separate subject.
Now the main difference between the two subjects is people determine them as separate entities on to themselves...

Creativity is determined by most of the populous as being an individual whom is a delusional dreamer, that will not amount to anything.
When deep down we all create whether it is artistically or in other forms inter communicative ways.
Part of the reason for peoples misconception is the fact that deep down inside our evil subconscious, there is a sort of jealousy and envious at some levels!

The Contemplation of Quitting Art, Why?

Why, do we all contemplate quitting our quest of an art career?
Well it is very natural to have self doubt, but it is the true artists that contemplate quitting one day in frustration and are back at it the next turn of a page in time. That is why we do it, it flows through our veins, just as the blood flows.
Thus remembering why we went on a quest of an art career, the love of art!  The main reason I believe artists quit is because they realize that a career in the arts is not as glamorous and as easy as they imagined it would be, not like in the movies or a fairytale life where you are instantly famous and sell all your work quicker then you can create it. So we all have to be committed or quit, because the odds are against all artists despite talent aside it takes years of dedication and hard work.

ARTIST P.GREENE: Different Interpretations of Landscape art

ARTIST P.GREENE: Different Interpretations of Landscape art: Being a visual artist it is rather dificault to egnore interpreting the beauty of nature. Although nature beckons to cry out, paint...

Different Interpretations of Landscape art

Being a visual artist it is rather difficult to ignore interpreting the beauty of nature.
Although nature beckons to cry out, paint me, recreate me, without the possibility of creating what nature is the artist can only imitate!

A different as nature reproduces different view of its infinitive nature. The artist can just convey
his/her own interpretation of what they see.

The only thing that is evident just like in nature there are different interpretations, therefore the artists are only interpreters of  nature...
Thus each time an artist creates an image of nature it may be conveyed  within an abstract, photography, a landscape painting or drawing, etc.

As in nature an artwork can tell a story, so as a viewer of the artist interpretation should not be dismissed as just good or bad based upon a visual.
Just like in the world around us there is always different interpretations behind every story, so look beyond the imagery!

Just as in nature an artist can have new growth!

Just as in nature an artist can have new growth!

What is growth when it comes to artists, an artist is a work in progress, such as in nature. The heart and soul is part of the growing process of the artist, learning is also part of the natural instinct between self awareness  and visual contact with the world around us all.

Now I know how confusing this might sound, but it is truly a process of acknowledgement on the artist's behalf...

While becoming self aware, comes new growth!

SO MUCH ART, WHAT A LIFE!!!

So much art, what a life!!!

So much art, what a life...

Sometimes I like other artists have ups and downs, with the feeling of despair and question why I'm doing art. Then the creative voices in my head and heart of hearts speaks to me, do you like what you are doing?

The answer is always the same, yes!

I find if an individual such as I, who has fallen in love with art, it is a life long affair that  will never leave as long as you live and quite likely it will continue long after your passing:

leaving a legacy of love for the arts for generations to come, e regardless of how good your art is!

A Pleasure To Complete.

Here is a piece I truly enjoyed painting, I believe there will be more in my future in a larger format.
A painting as such is a challenge of abstraction that requires a perception of all the knowledge I have acquired as an artist.
Contrary to belief abstract art requires an intellect of a different nature, not like painting any other subject matter for what is created is non-tangible. Moreover you have to create what is not there, it comes from the heart and mind of the artist and sometimes by sheer accident!

The opinions written are of my own observations and opinions are varied.

They Say A Picture Says A Thousand Words, But What About (Self Painted Portraits)?

Many people say oh a (picture is worth a thousand words) well what about a self portrait?
Is it a form of self envy, well I personally believe contrary to public opinion it has nothing to do with self envy. It is a form of self exploration and like most artists through the ages, we paint what we know best.
What better than doing a subject you know best, (oneself). Let's all be honest if you can not except oneself and all the impurity of good and bad, then self envy is the least of your problems, for if you cant let yourself be exposed as you really are.

We are all vulnerable to criticism, so I say do what you want to do and the hell with the ones whom criticize!

So laugh at yourself, look inside yourself and answer truthfully does it really matter?
If it does, it does! Smile and move on, you will get over it.

Stick the tongue out at negative criticism, except positive. Don"t bite your lip or tongue,  tell it like it is!

Life is to short to worry about the consequences of your actions, just do it.

Okay I hope you enjoyed this parody of senseless ramblings of a self absorbed individual such as I and enjoy, life does not always have to be serious!

Should Artist stick to one style or medium?

This is a subject that has sort of haunted Artists through the generations.
Artists are bombarded with ideas swirling around in their heads, as well as questions: should I or should I not stick to one style or medium?
Well personally I feel that an Artist should try everything and anything when it comes to building a lifetime body of work.
That said, I do not mean an Artist should loose sight of what there inner voice is trying to say...
moreover be true to oneself and explore all that life has to offer in the crazy world we call art. Therefore I believe by doing different styles and mediums of art, helps make you not only a better artist, but also gives you abetter understanding and  makes you more aware of the world around you.
I say do what you want to do and do not let the industry dictate what you do and how you do it. No matter how much you try to please the general public or the art industry, it is hard work and dedication that will make you a success.
You have to go to them they will not just instantaneously come to you out of the blue like in the movies or the TV shows that show this unknown artist who gets his or her first solo exhibit two weeks after starting to do art and sells out; the instant sensation...

A painting that I completed at the Rideau Curling Club

This painting was an image of an area I have long loved and still, dispute the fact that I painted it indoors it was from that image edged in my mind of the location in the painting.
